PROJECT 1 : SKELETAL CONSTRUCTION (TEMPORARY BUS SHELTER)

Task One: In a group of 5, we were to construct a temporary bus shelter that accommodate 5-6 people in a scale of 1:5. The bus shelter should consist of all building components such as roof, columns, walls, and floor to demonstrate the knowledge of skeletal frames and its joints.

Moreover, an A3 report should be attached that documents the analysis of the design, construction progress and test results. We chose to work with a steel skeletal frame bus shelter that takes the form of the two following shapes (as mentioned in the brief), a cube and a cuboid.

PROJECT 2 : UNDERSTANDING FORCES IN BUILDING CONSTRUCTION

Task One: In this project, we were to form a group of 3 and to propose a building (tensile/membrane construction or grid shell construction) and identify the structural systems used in the construction of the building. We were then to produce a construction model showing the structural systems used in the above building.

We were to also include 2 A2 boards showing exploded axonometric construction details and information regarding the building. The building we chose was a tensile structure, Ab-O-Atash Amphitheatre.
